Dr. Jenkins has extensive training in the care and treatment of traumatic injuries to the face and jaws. He is on staff at multiple local hospitals as part of the facial trauma team and specializes in restoring your injury to the most cosmetic and functional form possible. Facial Fractures

The most common causes of facial fractures are assaults, sports injuries, accidental falls, and motor vehicle accidents. Dr. Jenkins specializes in fractures of the frontal sinus, orbits (eye sockets), zygoma (cheekbone), nasal bones, maxilla (upper jaw), and mandible (lower jaw). Treatment depends on the location and severity of the fracture — ranging from conservative management to surgical repair with titanium plates and screws.

Soft Tissue Injuries

Lacerations, avulsions, and contusions of the face and scalp require careful repair to minimize scarring and restore normal appearance and function. Dr. Jenkins's training in both medicine and dentistry gives him a unique understanding of facial anatomy, allowing for precise, cosmetically sensitive repair of even complex soft tissue injuries.

Dental Trauma

Knocked-out teeth, fractured teeth, and injuries to the supporting bone are common in facial trauma. Prompt treatment is critical — a knocked-out permanent tooth can often be replanted successfully if treated within 30–60 minutes. Call our office immediately if you or a family member experiences dental trauma.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, if treated quickly. Handle the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse gently with water, and try to reinsert it in the socket. If that's not possible, store it in milk or between your cheek and gum and get to our office within 30–60 minutes.
Depending on the fracture type and location, treatment ranges from observation and a soft diet to surgical repair using titanium plates and screws. Most repairs are performed through small incisions inside the mouth or in inconspicuous locations to minimize visible scarring.
Dr. Jenkins makes every effort to place incisions in natural skin folds or inside the mouth whenever possible. With proper wound care, most scars fade significantly over 12–18 months.
